Camlocus can be scaled by adding additional servers in the administration panel. This allows camera data, storage,
processing, and streaming workloads to be distributed across multiple servers.
How scaling works
- Add additional servers from the admin panel.
- Assign new cameras or storage workloads to the available servers.
- Use servers with the required storage capacity for the expected retention period.
- Distribute new camera data across different servers as the system grows.
Recommended infrastructure
- Use dedicated servers for production video workloads.
- Avoid VPS for large camera deployments.
- Plan CPU/GPU resources for transcoding.
- Plan storage based on bitrate, resolution, retention, and recording type.
- Plan network bandwidth for 24/7 recording and live viewing.
Capacity depends on
- number of cameras
- camera bitrate and resolution
- 24/7 recording vs motion-only recording
- playback retention period
- transcoding usage
- AI/analytics processing requirements
- number of simultaneous live viewers
