Connect Blue Iris

This guide explains the main ways to connect Blue Iris with Camlocus.

Blue Iris can be used with Camlocus for:

  • live streaming
  • motion detection
  • FTP motion clip upload
  • cloud recording
  • AI object detection

Recommended connection methods

RTMPS Stream

Use RTMPS Stream when you want Blue Iris to send live video directly to Camlocus.

Recommended for:

  • live view
  • 24/7 recording
  • stable cloud streaming

In Camlocus, open:

Camera -> Actions -> Edit -> Settings -> Video Icon

Set:

      Video Source: RTMPS Stream
      Record Stream: Yes
      Transcoding: Yes
      Playback: 7 Days

Camlocus will generate a unique RTMPS URL for each camera.

You can find the generated URL in:

      Camera -> Actions -> Details

Use this RTMPS URL in Blue Iris or FFmpeg to start streaming.

FTP Video

Use FTP Video when you want Blue Iris to upload motion-triggered clips to Camlocus.

Recommended for:

  • motion events
  • Alerts page
  • event-only recording
  • lower bandwidth usage than 24/7 streaming

In Camlocus, open:

Camera -> Actions -> Edit -> Settings -> Video Icon

Set:

      Motion Detection Type: FTP Video

FTP credentials can be found in:

Camera -> Actions -> Details -> Video Configurations -> FTPS

Recommended setup

For most Blue Iris users, use both:

RTMPS Stream for live view and 24/7 recording
FTP Video for motion detection events

This gives the best combination of live streaming, playback, motion alerts, and cloud storage.
