Blue Iris can be used as the local processing layer for motion detection, AI/object detection, and analytics before sending
alerts or videos to Camlocus.
- Blue Iris is optional. It is not required to use Camlocus.
- Blue Iris is a recommended example because it supports many cameras, integrations, motion detection, AI workflows, and FTP/RTMPS output methods.
- Camlocus receives the processed alert/video/metadata depending on how the integration is configured.

Recommended workflow
- Configure the camera and analytics in Blue Iris.
- Configure FTP motion video upload or RTMPS streaming to Camlocus.
- Set Motion Detection Type to FTP Video in Camlocus if uploaded clips should appear in Alerts.
- Verify that Camlocus receives the alert video and object/event information where available.
